Hi. I’m laying in the sun at the west end and thinking about you and me and us. And other things.

I’m thinking about Sleepless in Seattle, and how he said meeting his wife was like coming home. And we looked each other and smiled.

Home is a complicated subject for me. I’ve called many places home, like friends houses, or camp cabins, or tiny closets I drew in. But some places I’ve lived were just houses, and never homes. Home has been the subject of a lot of my work, many of my day dreams and most of my goals in life.

I’m still figuring out what home is, but when I look at you, when I touch you, when I feel close to you, I feel a little closer to knowing what it is. You could be the strong foundation, or the stable frame, or windows that keep me safe and warm but show me the world in new perspectives. You could be arm arm chair I can knit in or a sink I could stand at, drinking morning coffee.

All I know is that I want to find out. I want to see if our parts fit together. I want to stand back and look at the things we’ve created and say, “Yep. That’s home.”

Terra Brazier (they/them) is a lost twenty-something who just loves to craft. They’re from Maine, just quit their job, and have had their cat, Bandit, for over half their life. They dream to someday own a cow and be able to paint hyper realistic clouds.
