The Mountains Are Calling

Audio Transcript:
My quilt is from a pattern called “The Mountains Are Calling”, by Janet Nesbit, and it’s thesecond quilt I’ve made. I chose the design because it reminded me of Maine. From the mountains and trees to the field and fox, each piece seemed to feel like home. The fabric was bought from a store called “A Thrifty Notion” which resells second hand fabric.
I originally made this for someone that I loved very much and I am lucky enough to have been able to keep it.
Each stitch was made with a lot of care and that’s what this quilt reminds me of, the practice of love and the warmth that comes along with it.
Aiden (he/him) is a queer, trans, and autistic artist, craftsperson, and software engineer. He learned quilting from the ever-talented Travis Clough during one of his quilting workshops at "Factory 3". He appreciates the aspect of creating art that can be touched, worn, and used on a daily basis. When he is not quilting you might find him knitting, drawing, or coding alongside his dog Bonito (or exploring graveyards in rural Maine).
